Ponca Crash Pics-warning pretty graphic--double click on them to see up close

Ponca program we had to buy 2 as our first
was lost in the almost tornado souvenir shot

I loved the start at this track as it was long and
a slight left turn at the end then again a long
right--but you were able to build up alot of
speed--in MX the starts are the worst part well
at least for the helpless parent--I know 1 mom
who covers her eyes on starts and waits till
someone tells her it is over---for me I hide
behind my video camera--recording it---this
start of Cole's first main event on Saturday
was the 3rd race of the day and the worst
start/crash
of the whole week--it ended up in a popular
MX magazine because of that---and it
happens in just a matter of seconds---this
all took place with in 2-3 seconds
these shots are in sequence as they happened
the photographer always gets the start of each
race--Cole is in bright blue and is 997--he
is in second coming around that turn--guys
from the right side of the picture are coming
across and taking everyone out
in this pic is looks like they might miss Cole--
2 or 3 Honda's are going down
but no they run right into Cole and end up going
under his bike (at this point I know it is bad as
Ron is running cuz he knows Cole is at the front and the
crash is happening at the front) They are actually
knocking him off his bike and he is trying desperately to stay up
and on his bike and yes the Honda 121 did take
the worse of it and I watched after while his Dad kept
telling him to get back on the bike you'll be
fine--smart kid he just shook his head and
started pushing his bike off--I love that Cole is
looking at the goal just a little farther
and I will be out of this--this is why his left
hip hurt him so much he didn't know what he
had hit till we saw these pictures--he landed
right on that guys bike
now Cole is trying to tuck and roll as he obviously
isn't going to get out of this crash--the bike that
was under him is now in the air and going to land on its
rider 121 and the other riders cant help but run over the
bikes so they are moving around--next to bike 301
there is a boot in the air--we think this is where Cole hit
his head pretty hard---Ron had replaced his helmet
before we even got home!!! We don't play around
with the safety equipment!
now the 121 bike is back on its wheels being
ghost ridden--and bikes are going down like
crazy as everyone is now running into the crash
at a very high rate of speed and stopping very fast
except the slower guys in the right of the pic who just
showed up and are avoiding the whole thing!
Cole really has no were to go here he is just stuck
at least he is still moving 121 was out cold
657 is now going to ride over our bike!!!
and Cole's feet are in the air--it is times like
these you are so glad you pay the extra money
and get the best protective gear--right now
he has on helmet, boots, knee braces(very expensive),
a neck brace(very expensive), gloves, protective gear, etc.etc.
everything but a chest protector which he wont
wear anymore not sure why--oh i guess cuz he
wears an underamour thing now!!!
and the final--it kinda looks like he might have been
out for a minute--657 clearing Cole's bike--
and a bunch of bikes down 6 or 7 didn't get back into
the race---121 had quite a bit of blood from a
bloody nose but still pushed his bike off--Cole crawled off
the track as soon as he could--then rode
his bike back to our pit area even though he
was dizzy etc from i am sure a concussion--
mostly he didn't want to walk and needed to lay
down which he did till his next race---such a bummer
cuz this was his class we knew he could do
well in--the people who won were different
than the ones who had been dominating it
the whole week!!!! But in the end he was safe!!

Cole said he thought the whole thing only took
maybe 2 seconds at the most and he said that
included the time it took him to crawl off
the track---and not one person needed the
paramedics--all the boys were fine--just bruised!!!
